39.3 Miles!!

For a few years my sister and I have talked about doing the Avon Breast Cancer walk, in support of our grandmother Marianne, aunt Karen and Great Aunt Sally - all of who have battled breast cancer on our Dad's side of the family. Our schedules finally worked out this year, and so we signed up for the 2012 Avon Rocky Mountain Breast Cancer Walk. The walk started early in the morning (6:15am) on Friday morning in Keystone, and from there we walked 26.2 miles (a full marathon) to Frisco. That night we camped in Frisco and then were up bright & early again the next morning to walk an additional 13.1 miles to end our walk in Keystone. It was an amazing experience, one that we won't forget - and neither will our feet, knees or legs!!

The longest road ever.... Had to walk straight up hill for 4 miles and then back down the same road for 4 more miles.

Weren't sure we would ever see this mile marker. :)

We made it through the first day, 26.2 miles down!! Could barely walk that evening, and had to head to medical triage to have them pop our blisters and bandage us up to walk the next day. We were "easy" compared to most people visitng the triage tent.

Up and ready to start day #2! Luckily we had a lot of entertainment along the way both days to help pass the time, we ended up being on the road walking for a total of 13 hours and walked 83,611 steps (according to my pedometer).

And we did it, 39.3 miles in 2 days!! Such a rewarding experience, one that we will always remember! And we had some cute guys waiting for us at the finish line each day. :)

THANK YOU to everyone who donated and supported us, I so appreciate it and can't thank you enough!!
